Lumberjack Shows, Fire Prevention Day and Glow-a-Thon

See what's happening at the Dakota County Fair this weekend.

Friday


Sports Registration

It's the last day to turn in your Burnsville High School sports registration before practice starts on Monday, Aug. 12.

Interstate 35W

Interstate 35W between Highway 13 and the I-35/35W/I-35E split will close starting at 10 p.m. It will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 12.

Dakota County Fair


Demolition Derby will start at 7:30 p.m. at the Grandstand.

Some of the 4-H events include rabbit agility demonstrations, swine judging and a goat demonstration. The All American Lumberjack show and cake contest judging will also occur on Friday. 

Saturday


Dakota County Fair

Saturday is Fire Prevention Day at the fair. The lineup of events include kitchen fire and sprinkler system demonstrations and tractor parade.

The 4-H events of the day include arts and food, such as the chocolate dessert contest judging.

The Jackpot Lamb show will begin at 7 p.m. while the Demolition Derby will again be at the Grandstand at 7:30 p.m.

Sunday


Dakota County Fair

It's your last chance to see the Demolition Derby. This time the event starts at 1 p.m. at the Grandstand.

The events of the last day of the fair include a bank raid, accordion music and the Kid's Lumberjack Sports Camp. 

Glow-a-Thon

Registration is open for the Glow-a-Thon to benefit the Cancer Kids Fund at Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota. The event is on September 21 at Nicollet Commons Park in Burnsville.
