Burnsville students can find three clinics in the area that offer free back to school sports physical exams.

The Diamonhead Clinic, located in the lower level of the Diamondhead Education Center, offers free non-emergency medical services for children through high school. It is a walk-in clinic and summer hours are Tuesdays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Regular clinic hours start on August 13 and are Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Sessions at TRIA Orthopaedic Center are scheduled for Wednesday, July 31 and Saturday, August 3. The clinic is located at 8100 Northland Drive in Bloomington. Parents should bring immunization records if available, but Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) forms will be provided.

The schedule for free physicals on Wednesday is:

  • A-F 5:00 - 6:00 p.m.
  • G-M 6:00 - 7:00 p.m.
  • O-Z 7:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Saturday's schedule is:

  • A-F 9:00 - 10:00 a.m.
  • G-M 10:00 - 11:00 a.m.
  • O-Z 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Twin Cities Orthopedics is offering free sports exams at each of their six locations. In Burnsville, free exams will occur on Tuesday, August 6 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The address is 1000 West 140th Street, #201.

Along with a free exam, students will also receive sports drinks, nutrition bars, drawstring backpacks and, for those who register two days in advance, a chance to win an iPad mini.

To register email SportsPhysicals@TCOmn.com or call (952) 512-5647. Walk-ins are not guaranteed to be seen.

The sports exam is not a replacement for an annual checkup with a primary care doctor. The MSHSL Sports Qualifying Physical Examination Clearance Form is available online and needs to have a parent signature.
