Closures on I-35 and I-494 Scheduled This Weekend

The first closure starts on northbound I-35 at 10 a.m. on Friday.

After a break for Labor Day weekend, the Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced upcoming lane and ramp closures for portions of Interstates 35 and 494.


Starting at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 6, northbound Interstate 35 between County Road 50 and the Burnsville split will become one lane. The lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9. 

Single lane traffic for both directions of Interstate 35 between County Road 2 and County Road 70 will continue through November.

Eastbound Interstate 494 between Highway 100 and Interstate 35W will close starting at 10 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 6. The detour will take drivers on Highways 62, 100 and 77. At the same time, the ramp from northbound Interstate 35W to eastbound Interstate 494 will also close.

The ramp and roadway will reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9.
