Burnsville Relay for Life Continues to Accept Donations

The group is trying to reach their fundraising goal of $30,000 by the end of August.

Burnsville's Relay for Life event has already occurred, but the group is still collecting donations to reach its goal of $30,000. Donations that count towards this year will be accepted until August 31.

So far teams and participants in Relay for Life have raised $17,567.54, according to the Burnsville Relay for Life website.

The group is currently looking for more volunteers to help grow the event in Burnsville. The committee that pulled off this year's event included three survivors, said Becky Kritz in an email to Patch. Kritz is the Burnsville Relay for Life chair.

Said Kritz, "Not that it is a prerequisite at all, but it helps to stay motivated when it is your health on the line, you know?"

If you're interested in volunteering, email Kritz at Becky.Kritz@chrobinson.com. Meetings begin in the fall with a light commitment. More regular meetings begin in January.

One of the committee members, Joshua Mathiowetz, created a slide show to remember and honor cancer patients. Watch the video above to see the slide show.
