Traffic Updates for I-35E, Area Construction

I-35E will soon see relief from head to head traffic.

The end of head to head traffic on Interstate 35E is almost here, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Starting Wednesday, MnDOT crews will begin shifting northbound and southbound I-35E traffic between Diffley Road and the I-35/35w/35E split back to their own side of the road.

Traffic on each side will remain single lane until August 6 while crews remove crossovers, the barrier and restripe the road.

Meanwhile, vehicles can now drive on the the McAndrews Road Bridge. Crews are still installing the railing and fence so pedestrians will have to follow the signed detour that uses County Road 11, Evergreen Drive and Portland Avenue.

Coming up

Two weekend closures will occur on I-35W between Highway 13 and the I-35/35W/35E split. There will be one closure for each direction of I-35W. The date of the first closure is tentatively scheduled for August 9.

Expect temporary off-peak closures on I-35 between between Elko/New Market and the Burnsville split. Long-term head to head traffic will begin around August 26.
