ReplyI believe this is only a halfway step, at best. This is "online" but it is a captive model, in that the teachers are within the district. The future is online learning with students able to access the best say, 200 math teachers or history teachers in the country-- not the same small audience of teachers in their local district. (I just completed a 19-week online college history course with University of Virginia given by a very prestigious professor-- and 40,000 students.)

ReplyThere is no "Winter Storm Walda." Naming winter storms is a marketing invention by the Weather Channel. Think of it as a brand name.

ReplyChristians celebrate the resurrection of Christ and will do so in spite of articles like this telling us Easter (or Christmas) are really from a shadowy past and linked with pagan rites. The eggs and bunnies have nothing to do with it.

ReplyKlaus says " I have nothing against Mass Transit, as long as it is paid for IN FULL by those who use it."
a) Where has this ever occurred, in any country, with any method of mass transit? Answer: it hasn't.
b) EVERYONE benefits from mass transit, hence funding from general sources.
The bus approach is much smarter (and cheaper) than rail and mimics the experience of every European country, who have far more regular bus service than we've ever had.

ReplyThis behavior is covered in the 1st hour of a concealed carry course. It's also the first time I've heard of someone with a carry license doing this. He'll pay in several ways for this.

On the article Sen. Dan Hall: Committee Passes Bill that Could Unionize Daycare Providers
Terry Elliott
10:33 pm on Sunday, March 10, 2013
Reply"Under the bill, even daycare providers who choose not to join the union would still be forced to pay union fees, be subject to the terms and conditions negotiated by the union, and be effectively deemed employees of the state."
Nothing more perfectly epitomizes the joint interests of unions and the DFL than clauses like this to preserve the money pipeline from unions to the DFL. In return for this cash flow, the DFL supports the expansion of unions-- under compulsion, if necessary, as in this case. With unions in manufacturing and commercial sectors now down to 6%, the DFL helps grow unions a) by growing government itself-- talk about synergy!-- and b) by forcing unions on any disparate collection of individuals, here day care providers.
Everything about it is corrupt.
