If you draw the Powerball winning numbers in Saturday’s lottery, you could score $600 million, or a $376.9 million one-time payout. Significantly more than the already staggering $229 million jackpot won by a Burnsville couple in 2011.
Powerball results were watched closely Wednesday when the jackpot was $363 million. After no one picked all six winning numbers, the new Powerball prize for the Saturday, May 18 drawing is now $600 million. That's more than twice the $229 million jackpot won by a Burnsville couple in 2011. The one-time cash payout of Saturday's drawing is estimated at $376.9 million. Tickets are $2 and the game is played in Wisconsin and 42 other states, including Florida, Texas, California and New York. You can buy tickets until 9 p.m. CST for the 9:59 p.m. drawing. Buy tickets online here, or search for a local retailer. The largest Powerball Jackpot cash payout to date was $384 million and was won on Nov. 28, 2012, in Arizona and Missouri. Wonder what …

With a $580 million prize on the line, Twin Cities residents are eyeing their tickets.
A half billion dollars could be yours in the latest Powerball drawing. In fact, so many people were trying to access the Florida lottery website that the server was slow to respond and appeared down at times shortly after the 11 p.m. drawing. The Minnesota site had no such issue, as seen here. The $580 million winning Powerball numbers have been selected and people in the Twin Cities metro from St. Michael to Hudson are checking their tickets. The winning Powerball numbers for the Nov. 28, 2012 drawing are 5, 16, 22, 23, 29 and a Powerball number of 6. Last August, a Lakeville gas station sold a winning Powerball $229 million lottery ticket to a Burnsville man.
"Could it happen to me?" That's the rhetorical notion that most people think when they plop down some cash to try and win a Powerball jackpot. Tomorrow night is the cut off for the one of the largest jackpots ever—a $550 million sum that could make even Donald Trump weep. However, since a Lakeville Super America station sold a winning $229 million Powerball ticket to a very lucky Burnsville man last year, the question has changed to, "Could it happen again?" Well, with the estimated Powerball jackpot up to an astounding $320 million, more people are hoping the answer is yes, though the odds of winning are extremely low. According to a recent article by CNN, the odds of winning are about one in 175.2 million, which means you're more likely …

Taking the "lump sum" might make you as wealthy as Minnesota-born Prince, and pay you more than that famous Kevin Garnett contract with the Timberwolves.
You didn't win Tuesday night's Mega Millions jackpot? No worries. Neither did anyone else. Now, the prize amount has grown to the greatest ever in the game's 15-year history. Friday night's estimated jackpot sits at $500 million, already up from Wednesday morning's initial estimate of $476 million. The drawing occurs at 11 p.m. Friday, with a 10:45 p.m. cutoff for buying tickets. To put it in comparison with some Minnesota figures: The Mega Millions jackpot dwarfs the biggest Powerball win in Minnesota's history — a cool $229 million won by Burnsville's own Tom and Kathleen Morris back in August. And remember that gigantic contract the Minnesota Timberwolves signed with Kevin Garnett during the 1998 season? Garnett was given $126 million …

Tom and Kathleen Morris win the largest Powerball jackpot in Minnesota history—a cool $229 million.
A week ago, Thomas and Kathleen Morris were wondering if they would have enough money to retire. “I said to Tom, “The only way we can retire is if we win the lottery,” Kathleen told reporters. “It only takes one (ticket to win) and it was our turn this time.” Wednesday, an uncanny stroke of fate decided the matter for them: The Burnsville couple hit the jackpot, winning $229 million in the largest Powerball win in Minnesota history. Thomas Morris normally buys three Powerball tickets in a single purchase, but on Aug. 10 he had a $5 bill he didn't want to break. On a whim, he bought five tickets for that night’s drawing at a Super America in Lakeville. “It wasn’t my normal pattern,” the Burnsville resident said. As the clerk handed him the …

The winner has yet to come forward, authorities say.
Wednesday's record winning $229 million Powerball lottery ticket was sold in Dakota County, according to the the Minnesota State Lottery. Jenny Canfield, the state's acting lottery director said the $229 million jackpot will be the state's largest winner. The state lottery should know later today where the ticket was sold, according Canfield. If sold in Lakeville, it will be the second multi-million dollar Powerball jackpot with a Lakeville connection in the past five years. In 2006, Michael Hawes, then 46,of Lakeville, won $46 million when he hit all five numbers and the Powerball on a ticket he purchased at a Cub Foods in Burnsville. Lottery officials say Wednesday's winner has the option of taking roughly $123 million in cash …
