What About That Treasure Hunt?
St. Paul, with its Winter Carnival, isn't the only town with a treasure hunt. Here's a list of some other communities that sponsor medallion hunts through the year.
For the past 61 years, the St. Paul Pioneer Press has sponsored a treasure hunt during the time of the city's Winter Carnival celebration. The St. Paul treasure hunt has been a way for locals to break up the winter doldrums and have fun to boot. Not to mention that the potential prize for this year's lucky medallion finder is a cool $10,000. The St. Paul treasure hunt will conclude no later than Jan. 31. It's not, however, the only treasure in the area. Fridley: The annual medallion hunt is a highlight of Fridley's Winterfest on Saturday, Jan. 26, 1–4 p.m. at Commons Park, 6249 Seventh St. NE, Fridley.
