To the editor, Do not let Will Morgan fool you; he wants to raise our taxes. Before he left office, he left no stone unturned searching for things to tax. He voted to take away the mortgage interest deduction, Morgan even voted for not allowing us to deduct our property taxes from our income taxes. He voted to increase taxes on each and every home purchased in Dakota County—right in the middle of the housing crisis. But he didn't stop there. He also voted to tax music downloads and home heating fuel purchased during the winter months. I cannot afford to have Will Morgan back in the legislature—his record speaks for itself. To the editor: Education is crucial to a healthy economy. As such, it's crucial we have some one with first-hand experience representing our kids at the Capitol. Will Morgan's experience comes two fold: not only has he taught Physics for the past 20 years at Burnsville High School, but he also has an outstanding record protecting our schools at the state legislature. Who better to advocate the interests of our children's education than Will? As a teacher he sees first hand the effects of education cuts, like the more than $2 billion borrowed from schools by the current legislature. And after teaching for 20 years he's survived the ridiculous unfunded big government mandates (like the Profiles of Learning and No Child Left Behind) that do …

Longtime GOP activist Terry McCall is the third local politician to enter the race for the new House District 56B.
Less than a week has gone by since Lakeville Rep. Mary Liz Holberg bowed out of the race for new district 56B, but the field is already getting crowded. Late Tuesday, Terry McCall declared his intention to run. After the redistricting plan was unveiled last month, Holberg found herself charged with District 56B, which encompasses much of Burnsville and only a small portion of northern Lakeville. But last week, Holberg announced her intention to run in District 58A, which covers the majority of Lakeville, her home turf. Competition for the seat is already running high. McCall follows in the footsteps of former DFL Rep. Will Morgan and Lakeville School Board Member Roz Peterson, who declared her intention to seek the Republican endorsement …

The Democrat hopes to win in a district currently falling under Lakeville Republican Mary Liz Holberg.
Former DFL House Rep. Will Morgan is hoping to make a comeback in 2012. On Monday, Morgan said he would seek the Democratic endorsement for House District 56B, an area that now falls under the purview of Rep. Mary Liz Holberg, a Lakeville Republican now largely boxed out of her own town by the redistricting plan released last week. Morgan said his decision to run again was influenced by persistent political turmoil that has characterized the last 12 months at the state capitol. Morgan said he was also disturbed by the GOP's cuts to education and the party's unwillingness to negotiate with Democrats. He promised, if elected, to bring back a spirit of pragmatic bipartisanship. "We need to get back to the way it was, when the DFL house and …

It is not the point of Peterson’s inexperience, it is the opposite; the point is we need the most well connect and experienced Republicans to get elected to the Minnesota House. Literally Terry McCall is the most experienced; most well liked and most connected Republican seeking the Republican endorsement for any Minnesota House Seat, especially the Minnesota House Seat for District 56B. Terry …   more ›
