Over the last two weeks, at least nine people have died in Savage, Shakopee or Burnsville, including a 19-year-old Shakopee High student and Mrs. L, the owner of the Spur Cafe and Truck Stop.
"Mrs. L"—April 25 Jeanette S. Leitchman, known to many as "Mrs. L," died at the age of 89 on Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville. Leitchman was a longtime resident of Savage and the co-owner of the Spur Cafe and truck stop as well as a resort in Amery, WI, a tavern, and a motel in Richfield. Nancy L. Annetta I. Jamison, of Burnsville, died on Nov. 19, 2012 at the age of 75. She is preceded in death by husband, William, and brother, Grant Mould. Jamison is survived by children, Suzette (Ronald Guichard) Jamison and Marc (M.J.) Jamison; brother, Roy (Beanie) Mould; and sister-in-law, Janet Mould. A funeral service for Jamison will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 26, 2012 at Cedar Valley Church in Bloomington. A visitation is scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, at White Funeral Home in Apple Valley, and also one hour prior to service at the church. Linda Loerch, of Apple Valley, died on Oct. 23, 2012.
Linda Loerch (nee Fischer), of Apple Valley, passed away on Oct. 23, 2012 at Our Lady of Peace Home at the age of 63. Loerch's family describes her as a woman with a zest for life, who loved quilting, baking and cooking. She was a longtime employee of Wells Fargo, where she worked in the mortgage industry. She was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Fischer. Loerch is survived by her son, Peter Loerch; daughter, Becca Gangl (Chris); grandson, Landon Gangl; dad, Joseph Fischer; sisters, Jane Yager, Laurie Gathje (Steve), and brothers, Tim Fischer (Cris), Jeff Fischer (Deb), and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Joseph Thomas Rinaldi, of Apple Valley, died peacefully at his home on Sept. 22, 2012 at the age of 85. Rinaldi, a former resident of Hibbing, was a proud member of the Seabees, the U.S. Navy's construction force. Albert J. Shuhler Jr. died at home on Aug. 14, 2012.
Burnsville resident Albert J. Shuhler, Jr. passed away Aug. 14, 2012, at age 76. Shuhler served in both the Marines and U.S. Air Force. He was a proud veteran and member of the American Legion and the 40 & 8 Club. During his civilian career, Shuhler was an auditor at the Metropolitan Council. He also taught college in Stubenville, OH, and was an Airport Transportation Auditor in Washington D.C. He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughters, Suzanne (Chuck) Martz and Pam (Kurt) Birnstiel; granddaughters, Joni (Todd) Preuss and Tiffany Martz; great-granddaughter, Allison Preuss; and by other loving family and friends. Katherine E. Redder, of Burnsville, passed away on Aug. 11, 2012 at the age of 97. Redder is preceded in death by her husband, Paul. Alice B. Crissman Alice B. Crissman quietly passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 after a long and eventful life of 96 years. Longevity runs in the family. Her father passed at 100, mother at 97, brother, Olin at 90 and older sister, Louise, at 96. Crissman was born on June 30, 1916 in Ionia, MI. She attended Michigan State University. Before she retired, she worked as a waitress on great lakes cruise ships as a young woman, a florist in Libertyville, IL, and a retail sales person for custom draperies in Alliance, OH.
