A Burnsville man accused of threatening his stepfather and half-sister has been acquitted of felony-level domestic abuse charges but has yet to regain his freedom. As of Christmas Day, 35-year-old Troy Blaine Almhjeld remained in custody at the Dakota County Jail on a $75,000 bond. After an incident in September, Almhjeld was charged with two counts of felony domestic assault, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. , Almhjeld got into a confrontation with his step-father and half-sister after a night out drinking. A Burnsville man with a history of domestic violence convictions has been charged again with domestic assault after police say he threatened his stepfather and half-sister. Troy Blaine Almhjeld, 34, is charged with two counts of felony domestic assault, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, Burnsville police were called to an apartment in the 1600 block of 143rd Street just after 4:30 a.m. Sept. 2 to investigate a domestic assault complaint. Police allege that Troy Blaine Almhjeld, 34, got upset and combative when asked to leave a Burnsville hotel room.
A local man landed in the county lockup after a tussle with officers from the Burnsville Police Department. Troy Blaine Almhjeld, 34, faces four charges after an incident at Burnsville hotel on Friday morning. Officers from the BPD were called to the hotel on Aldrich Avenue South by an employee, who wanted to evict the occupants of a room on the second floor after receiving complaints from other guests. Burnsville officers accompanied the employee to the door. Almhjeld answered. According to the criminal complaint, Almhjeld became "very upset" when told to leave.
