What About That Treasure Hunt?

St. Paul, with its Winter Carnival, isn't the only town with a treasure hunt. Here's a list of some other communities that sponsor medallion hunts through the year.

For the past 61 years, the St. Paul Pioneer Press has sponsored a treasure hunt during the time of the city's Winter Carnival celebration. The St. Paul treasure hunt has been a way for locals to break up the winter doldrums and have fun to boot. Not to mention that the potential prize for this year's lucky medallion finder is a cool $10,000. The St. Paul treasure hunt will conclude no later than Jan. 31.  It's not, however, the only treasure in the area. Fridley: The annual medallion hunt is a highlight of Fridley's Winterfest on Saturday, Jan. 26, 1–4 p.m. at Commons Park, 6249 Seventh St. NE, Fridley. Medallion hunters gather at the nearby Fridley Community Center for clues revealed on the half hour. The event is free and open to all. …
