This year, the company added two Minnesota stores to its growing list of locations, which are spread from Oklahoma to the Dakotas. Store Manager Zane Christensen moved up to Minnesota from Des Moines, IA where he'd been responsible for another Push•Pedal•Pull exercise emporium. His mission: To get the Burnsville location up and off to a running start. In March, the company was ready to open the store, a spot tucked in between Interstate 35 and Burnsville Center. So far, so good, Christensen said. "This location has been phenomenal, even though our busy season…

The Lone Oak Grill will likely open in Eagan at the end of July, according to owner and former Burnsville resident Joel Lehman.
Follow us on Twitter | Like us on Facebook | Sign up for our daily newsletter What happens when you add teriyaki-grilled pineapple and wasabi mayonnaise to an ordinary hamburger? Dining enthusiasts can find out on July 30, when the Eagan's newest restaurant, the Lone Oak Grill, opens at 3010 Eagandale Place—the former site of the now-closed Joe Senser's Sports Grill and Bar. The 9,800-square-foot building is currently undergoing a floor-to-ceiling renovation designed to strip away the last vestiges of Joe Senser's and create an entirely new atmosphere, according to owner Joel Lehman. Once complete, the new restaurant will have roughly 300 seats, 36 craft beers on tap and bocce ball courts, among other features, Lehman said. Lehman, who …

Mike and Maria Peerboom are introducing a new generation of Burnsville residents to the Assimes family's Greek home cooking.
Follow us on Twitter | Like us on Facebook | Sign up for our daily newsletter Visitors to the new Pita Plus Sandwich Grill will immediately notice a black and white photo standing at the entrance. It's Owner Mike Peerboom's father-in-law, Jimmy Assimes, outside of his restaurant, Jimmy's Lemon Tree—a full-service Greek and BBQ joint that once was a Burnsville standby. Mike and Maria Peerboom's latest entrepreneurial effort owes quite a debt to Assimes, a Greek immigrant who built a chain of seven Lemon Tree restaurants around the Twin Cities from the 1970s until his death. At Jimmy's, Peerboom met his wife and got a start in the business. He began working at Jimmy's Lemon Tree at the age of 14 as a dishwasher. Gradually he worked his way …

Proto Labs, located in Rosemount, uses proprietary 3-D computer software to allow customers to submit designs for custom plastic parts.
Rosemount Mayor Bill Droste had a wide grin on his face Tuesday, after leading a ceremony to officially welcome Proto Labs to Rosemount. “Last fall when I first heard about the potential expansion of Proto Labs to this site, I can tell you, it is the type of news every community is seeking with the current economy,” Droste said prior to the ceremonial ribbon-cutting at Proto Lab’s new 129,000 square-foot manufacturing facility in the former Webb Cos. building at the corner of Highway 3 and County Road 42. The Maple Plain-based company, one of the fastest growing businesses in the state, has said it anticipates adding approximately 300 jobs within the next three years to the Rosemont site and is already hiring at a rapid clip. The self-serve frozen yogurt bar in Burnsville is just one of dozens of locations popping up all over the U.S.
Burnsville is now home to a self-serve yogurt franchise that is sweeping the nation. CherryBerry officially opened its doors on Travelers Trail on Thursday. The concept is sweet but simple: Patrons are encouraged to walk in, grab a cup and start mixing. CherryBerry offers a rotating menu of 16 frozen yogurt flavors and more than 50 toppings. The final result is priced by weight. “It’s like having pure frozen yogurt bliss in a cup,” CherryBerry Founder Dallas Jones said in a release from the company. “People can come in and make their own creations.” By all accounts, the Oklahoma-based brand is taking Minnesota by storm in 2012. A Burnsville "landmark" was razed this week to make way for a CVS Pharmacy in the Heart of the City. Read about this and other business news.
After years or reversals and delays, the TCF Bank site will be redeveloped at last. This week bulldozers tore into the white-columned building, referred to by City Planner Chris Slania as a "landmark." The building that graced the corner of Nicollet and Burnsville Parkway since 1974 is almost gone. A CVS Pharmacy will go up on the lot in the months to come. It's been a long road for the redevelopment project — known as the Nicollet Addition. The plan has been in the works since 2007, when the Economic Development Authority signed a contract with Burnsville Crossing LLC to redevelop the site as a pharmacy, medical office building paired and two-tier parking lot. In the intervening five years, the project has changed many times: The parking …
