Haunted Houses Near Burnsville

Looking for a scary experience this Halloween? Some of these attractions are within driving distance of Burnsville, but could be worth the scare factor.

For some people, celebrating Halloween includes visiting a haunted house or going on a haunted hayride. Halloween is just around the corner and to get you prepared for the spooky holiday, Patch has prepared a list of some haunted attractions you can visit—if you dare. Frightmares at Buck Hill The grandaddy of them all is right here in Burnsville. Frightmares is back and better than ever after a scare of its own (one of the key haunted houses, the Bellharm Lovejoy Asylum, burned down in late September).  Open Dates: Oct. 5 through Oct. 28. Frightmares Bounces Back from Fire with 'The Inferno'

Friday, Buck Hill unveiled its newest attraction—the Inferno—a replacement for the Bellharm-Lovejoy Asylum, which burned down on Sept. 16.

Those behind Buck Hill's Frightmares decided to have some fun with a recent misfortune: The company announced that it would offer a new Halloween attraction—The Inferno—to replace the Bellharm-Lovejoy Asylum, a set piece which was destroyed by fire on Sept. 16. Instead of viewing the blaze as a setback, the company has used it to spin a new marketing yarn and build Buck Hill's spooky mythos. "Shortly after the strike of midnight on Sept. 16, 2012, the Bellharm-Lovejoy Asylum attraction at Frightmares at Buck Hill mysteriously burned to the ground," the company's press release read. Haunted House at Buck Hill Ravaged by Fire

Early Sunday morning a blaze tore through Frightmares at Buck Hill, which is set to open in less than a month.

According to a report on KARE 11, authorities believe the fire broke out just before 1:00 a.m. on Sunday, engulfing a "temporary structure." There are three such buildings on the Frightmares grounds, the Fright Factory, the Orcahrd Manor Dead & Breakfast, or the Bellharm Lovejoy Asylum. “The fire destroyed the Bellharm-Lovejoy Asylum, one of four houses and many other attractions at Frightmares at Buck Hill.
