UPDATE: Crash at I-35W at Cliff Clogs Up Traffic Throughout Area

This morning northbound lanes of I-35 backed up past Burnsville Parkway due to an accident at a trouble spot near the Cliff Road ramp.

This morning's commute came to a grinding halt after a rollover in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 West at Cliff Road, which left traffic backed up for over a mile. The crash occurred shortly around 9:16 on Monday morning. Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol reported that the crash involved two vehicles, one of which rolled after contact from the other car. It took about an hour to clear the road. There were no injuries.  However, there have been two serious accidents in the same spot over the last four months. See previous coverage:

There were injuries involved...the passenger of the vehicle that was hit resulting in them rolling multiple times is in the hospital with 8 fractured vertebrae there are still tests/scans being done to determine any further damage and he will remain in the hospital until further notice.   more ›

Traffic on I-35W North Comes to Complete Standstill After Multi-Car Crash

A massive pileup resulted in plenty of headaches for those getting to work, but no injuries.

Follow us on Twitter | Like us on Facebook | Sign up for our daily newsletter| Blog for us Morning commuters were in for an ugly surprise this morning: A giant pileup in the northbound lanes of Interstate 35 that brought the road to a total stop, closing all lanes. Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol told KARE 11 that the crash involved seven to eight vehicles, including a semi-tractor trailer. The crash occurred at the ramp merging I-35W and Cliff Road, a junction that has been in the news often in recent months. In early September, one Burnsville woman was left in critical condition after a three-car pileup at the same spot.

Memorial Service for Crash Victim Frederick Alexander, 16, Set for Monday

Frederick Alexander, 16, died on Aug. 21, 2012 at the scene of a rollover accident on Interstate 35W.

Frederick Jeffery Alexander, 16, of Burnsville, passed away Aug. 21, 2012, as a result of a car crash. He is survived by his loving parents, Cheryl and Terence McClenney; siblings, Selena Ely and Gabrielle McClenney; grandparents, Freddie Jeff, Elezabeth McClenney, and Gloria Honore; nephew, Daylon Daniels; niece, Haiden Jackson; special brother, Georgio Wright; special friends, Rey, Alfredo, and J.T. A memorial service is set for 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, 2012 at White Funeral Home in Burnsville, with gathering of family and friends from 5 to 7 p.m. To read a full account of the crash, click here. Passengers in Tuesday's Fatal Crash Identified

Authorities say 16-year-old Jonathan Thomas and Rey Chacon, 17, were fellow passengers in a car that rolled down an embankment onto Interstate 35 on Tuesday, killing two.

The crash killed Frederick Jeffery Alexander, 16, of Burnsville, who was pronounced dead at the scene of the 2:30 p.m crash. Alesha Katherine Roehl, 17, of Burnsville died a few hours later at Hennepin County Medical Center. Two Lakeville South students—Jonathan L. Thomas, 16, of Lakeville and Rey Chacon, 17, of Burnsville—sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash on Interstate 35, according to a State Patrol media release updated Friday morning. …

A tragic,horrible accident...and our son was a passenger in that car.....we are thanking God every minute over and over again that he is still with us,snd jts only becsuse he had his seatbelt on!! Our hearts and prayers are with the familjes of Frederick and Alesha and we are so so sorry for their loss. Beautiful children who will be missed greatly!! Second Teen Dies After Fatal Crash on I-35W

Authorities report that a rollover on Interstate 35W has claimed the lives of both Frederick J. Alexander, 16, of Burnsville, and Alesha Roehl, 17, of Northfield.

At about 3 p.m. FOX 9 News reported a serious crash with injuries at County Road 46 and I-35W in Burnsville. Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol reports that the vehicle was headed southbound on Buck Hill Road before the driver lost control. The car rolled down an embankment several times, ejecting two people, and landed on the freeway. According to the State Patrol, there were five people riding in the vehicle, a 1992 Toyota Camry.
