Officials want a direct connection between the bus station on the Burnsvile-Eagan border and nearby Cedar Avenue, thereby improving access to the soon-to-be-built Paragon outlet mall.
The way Eagan city officials see it, there's just one thing wrong with the Minnesota Valley Transit Authority bus station on Nicols Road along the Burnsvile-Eagan border: It doesn't have direct access to nearby Cedar Avenue. Instead, buses traveling to the station must exit on Cliff Road or Diffley Road and travel north on Nicols Road to reach the station. It's a problem Eagan Mayor Mike Maguire and Eagan City Councilor Gary Hansen hope Dakota County and the Minnesota Department of Transportation will correct soon—especially since construction of the nearby Paragon outlet mall is set to begin this year. The discount luxury retailer plans to open a 28,000-square-foot store in the soon-to-be developed Paragon Outlet Mall.
Hello, luxury shopping: The South Metro will soon get an infusion of Prada, Pucci, Fendi, and friends. Paragon Outlet Partners announced on Monday that Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th—a discount luxury retailer—will anchor a 28,000-square-foot space in an upscale outlet mall planned for Eagan. Off 5th is just one of roughly 100 upscale outlets that will likely fill the 400,000-square-foot outlet mall, according to a press release issued by Paragon. The Baltimore, Md.-based company plans to begin construction of the mall earlier in 2013, after the city of Eagan wraps up infrastructure improvements in the area.
