Cedar Avenue Construction Winding Down as Winter Sets In

With the onset of winter, construction along the corridor has slowed significantly.

A trip along Cedar Avenue yields far fewer orange traffic barrels than just a few short weeks ago. With the onset of winter, construction along the corridor has slowed significantly. According to Ross Beckwith, construction engineer for Dakota County, there may be temporary lane closures, usually in off-peak hours, as crews work on lighting and fencing, but the majority of the roadwork is done until next spring. The project will result in bus-only shoulders and extending six-lane traffic through Apple Valley south to County Road 46. Additional turn lanes have been added. Highway 77 Ramps, Loops Closing Oct. 4

The Minnesota Department of Transportations warns drivers to look out for detours.

Editor’s Note: This is a press release from the Minnesota Department of Transportation. Motorists can expect detours on Highway 77 as more ramps and loops close beginning Thursday, Oct. 4. The ramp from Diffley Road to northbound Highway 77 and the loop from southbound Highway 77 to northbound I-35E will close at 5 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4 as crews continue to repair concrete. The Diffley/northbound Highway 77 ramp is scheduled to reopen by 5 a.m. Oct. 7. The loop from southbound Highway 77 to northbound I-35E is scheduled to reopen by Oct. 10. Motorists are advised to follow the signed detour in order to bypass the loop and ramp closures.
