The heat is on in the final days of the Olympic games, where the U.S. and China are battling for athletic supremacy. As the San Jose Mercury News put it, the gloves came off fast in the medal race between the two superpowers. Most recently, state-run Chinese media organizations have suggested that Western powers have conspired to keep their medal count lower than it should be.
