Lindsey Vonn Talks Injury, Olympic Readiness on 'Today' Show

Lindsey Vonn injured her knee in a fall last week in Colorado.

Lindsey Vonn, a native of Burnsville and former Buck Hill skier, spoke on the Today show on Wednesday about her recent injury and Olympic hopes.

Vonn suffered the injury while training in Colorado at Copper Mountain, according to a story on Today.com. In the accident, she told Today that she fell "headfirst into the fence."

Among the minor abrasions that resulted from the crash, Vonn also "partially tore one of the reconstructed ligaments in her surgically-repaired right knee," Today reported.

"The fall caused my knee to give out,'' Vonn told Today. "If I hadn't had my brace on, I definitely would not have had anything left in my knee."

In the interview, Vonn said that she hopes to race next week in a World Cup event in Canada, but she also said that she will not really know her racing status until she gets on the snow to ski.

The 2014 Winter Olympics begin in February in Sochi, Russia. Vonn said on the Today show that there is still time to prepare to compete in the Olympics:

"Unfortunately, it was really bad timing for me," Vonn said, "but I'm still confident. I still feel like I have a lot left to achieve this season, I just have to kind of take it day by day right now, but I still have time before Sochi."
