Burnsville Wraps Up Perfect Conference Season with Win Over Apple Valley
The Blaze pound Apple Valley for 18 hits -- four of them by Danielle Wolk -- in an 11-1 win Monday night
The second Burnsville-Apple Valley contest this season was a lot like the first.
Top-ranked Burnsville got its bats going – banging out 18 hits -- played good defense and senior pitcher Kelsey Anderson did the rest as the Blaze scored an 11-1 Senior Day softball triumph in South Suburban Conference softball Monday.
“They hit the ball really well,” said Burnsville head coach Hillary Hansen.

Burnsville moved to 13-0 in the conference and 16-1 on the season. The Blaze wrapped up an undefeated conference season with the win.
Apple Valley fell to 5-8 in the league and 10-10 overall.

Burnsville junior shortstop Danielle Wolk went 4-for-5 and drove in four runs to lead the Burnsville offense. Wolk ripped a 2-run home run in the second inning to lift the Blaze to a 4-0 lead.
“Danielle Wolk came through again,” said Hansen. “She had a great game today. She played really well.”
Kelsey Anderson was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI. Her two-out, two-run double in the third made it a 6-0 game.
Burnsville's Megan Threlkeld was 3-for-4, Megan Lehnen 2-for-4, Lauren Smith 2-for-4 with a RBI, Abby Johnson 2-for-4 with a RBI and Abby Harazin 2-for-2 with a run scored and a RBI.
Anderson struck out seven and walked one in six innings. She gave up just two hits, and one unearned run.
Burnsville scored one in the first, three in the second and three in the third to take a commanding 7-0 lead.
Apple Valley got on the scoreboard with a run in the top of the sixth, but Burnsville scored two more in the bottom of the inning to close out the game.
Kati Erb and Christa Switzer got hits for Apple Valley.
Burnsville beat Apple Valley 11-0 in the first matchup between the two South Suburban Conference teams this season on April 13.
Prior to the game, Burnsville celebrated seniors Lehnen, Smith and Anderson.
“All three seniors have been huge contributors to the program both on and off the field,” noted assistant coach Kate Schwartz. “They will forever be an integral part of Burnsville softball and its success.”
Burnsville had been scheduled to play in the Polar Classic tournament at North St. Paul Saturday, but that tournament was rained out and probably will not be rescheduled with the sectionals starting next week.
Burnsville plays at Stillwater Wednesday in a final regular season and non-conference game starting at 4:30 p.m.
