Burnsville Softball Drops Minnetonka 5-0

Senior pitcher Kelsey Anderson continued her hot streak despite the cold weather, giving up just two hits while going 3-for-3 at the plate and driving in two runs

Burnsville continued its softball magic with a 5-0 non-conference win over visiting Minnetonka Thursday.

Senior Kelsey Anderson ran her pitching record to 5-0 with a 2-hit shutout. She struck out 10 of the 23 batters she faced, while walking one. In three games this week, Anderson has allowed no runs and had 29 strikeouts in19 innings of work.

Anderson wasn’t bad at the plate, either, going 3-for-3 with a double and two RBI.

Sophomore Megan Threlkeld was 1-for-3 and drove in two runs. Junior Abby Harazin went 2-for-3 with a RBI.

The Blaze grabbed a 3-0 lead after the first inning, and then added two more scores in the fifth.

In the bottom of the first inning, junior Dani Wolk singled, senior Lauren Smith was hit by a pitch and senior Megan Lehnen singled. Anderson doubled with bases loaded to knock in two runs. Harazin followed with a single scoring the third run of the inning.

The Blaze added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth when Threlkeld singled in Lehnen and pinch runner junior Laura Comee.

Burnsville (5-0 overall and 4-0 in conference play) will play in the Mankato West Tournament on Saturday.
