Burnsville Legion Heads Into District 3 Semifinals

The Burnsville American Legion baseball team advanced to the District 3 semifinals on Thursday with a 5-3 win over St. Paul Park at Lions Community Park in Victoria.

The win sends the Cobras to the semifinals, where they will face Lakeville North on Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Alimagnet Park. A win would send Burnsville to the finals on Saturday at 1 p.m. against Stillwater or Eastview.

Lakeville North, the 13th seed in the tournament, earned a spot in the bracket thanks to a play-in game victory over Lakeville South on Monday. North won that game 12-0, then defeated Chanhassen 10-0 and Eagan 10-5 to earn its shot against Burnsville. The Cobras are the top seed in the tournament.

Three teams advance from District 3 into the state tournament. The loser of this game will be placed in one of the two runner-up games being played on Saturday and will have the opportunity to still earn a state berth.
