Burnsville Bests No. 10 Stillwater in Regular Season Finale

Top-ranked Burnsville edges the Ponies 2-0 in a non-conference regular-season softball contest; section playoffs are next

The Burnsville Blaze wrapped up the 2011 regular season with a 2-0 non-conference win over host and tenth-ranked Stillwater Wednesday.

Burnsville scored one run in the top of the first inning and added another in the seventh for all of the game's scoring.

Burnsville improved its record to 17-1. Stillwater dropped to 15-5 on the season.

Blaze senior Kelsey Anderson pitched a 4-hit shutout. She struck out nine and walked four.

Anderson was also 2-for-4 at the plate with a double. Megan Threlkeld was 2-for-3 with a double, while Megan Lehnen and Laura Nadeau were each 1-for-3 and Abby Harazin was 1-for-2 with a double.

Next up for the Blaze will be the second round of the section playoffs. Burnsville will play Monday at 4 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
