Going to Pot: Volunteers Needed to Make 'Empty Bowls'

The school district is asking experienced potters to take a day to create clay goods to sell at the annual Empty Bowls for Full Bellies event.

Calling all potters.

The district is asking for volunteers to throw bowls in support of District 191 “Empty Bowls for Full Bellies.” Clay slingers with a philanthropic bent are invited to two bowl-making events. The first is on Jan. 26, with a followup date on Feb. 23.

Volunteers are encouraged to drop by on both days between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. at Burnsville High School, 800 E. Highway 13, in the school’s clay lab (Room H108). Edible goodies will be provided.

The clay creations will be offered at "Empty Bowls for Full Bellies," an annual sale benefiting Brainpower in a Backpack (a program that collects weekend food stuffs for needy children in the district). Empty Bowls is scheduled for April 18.
