Lakeville North Among Best High Schools in Minnesota, Nation

Newsweek rated has rated Lakeville North, attended by numerous Burnsville students, among the best high schools in Minnesota.

Both of Lakeville's high schools have been ranked among the best in the state by Newsweek in it's annual Best High Schools list.

, attended by about 200 Burnsville students is ranked as No. 4 in the state and 294th in the country. was ranked No. 11 in the state and 423rd nationally.

A total of 20 Minnesota high schools made the 2012 list, but just Apple Valley's Eastview (No. 6 in the state; 332 in the nation), Eagan (No. 16 in the state; 730 in the nation), and Rosemount (No. 17 in the state; 850 in the nation) made the list from Dakota County.

Newsweek rated Lakeville North High School a 0.64 on its scale with a graduation rate of 100 percent, 0.6 AP or IB tests given per student, 96 percent of graduates accepted to college, an average SAT score of 1765, an average ACT score of 24.4 and an average AP score of 3.3.

In compiling the 2012 rankings, Newsweek asked principals, superintendents and high school administrators across the United States to provide data from the 2010-11 academic year. More than 2,300 schools took part in the survey, from which the top 1,000 institutions were gleaned.

Schools were ranked according to six components: graduation rate, college matriculation rate, AP/IB/AICE tests taken per graduate, average SAT/ACT scores, average AP/IB/AICE scores and number of AP/IB/AICE courses offered. This was the second year Newsweek utilized the new methodology to determine its rankings.
