Burnsville Weight Lifters Break Records at State, Take 2nd Place Team Titles

One standout was Aneesa Ally, who bested three state records at the championships and is now rated fifth in the nation.

On Monday, officials at Burnsville High School announced that the varsity team placed second in the Minnesota State High School Weightlifting Championships.

  3. Rosemount 28

The junior varsity team came in at second as well.

  3. Rosemount 27

BHS also did well in individual rankings.

Burnsville Varsity (17 and up) Individual Place Finishers:

Women:

  • 53 Kilos, Aneesa Ally, took first place making her a two-time state champion. She also broke three state records at the championships. Ally is now rated fifth in the nation.
  • 63 Kilos, Erica Kesseh, first place state champ
  • 63 Kilos, Payton Schulze 2nd
  • 69 Kilos, Danielle Blanshan 2nd
  • 69 Kilos, Ariel Behnke 5th

  • 85 Kilos, Tyrone Mision 2nd
  • 105+ Kilos, Isaac Hubbard, first place state champ

  • 63 Kilos, Grace Peterson first place state champ
  • 69+ Kilos, Geneva Brandt 4th

Men:

  • 56 Kilos, Ben Nhan, first place state champ

  • 69 Kilos, Drew Ehlers 7th
  • 77 Kilos, Mike Schiller, first place state champ. Schiller broke the state clean and jerk record twice at the State Meet.
