Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District Makes AP Honor Roll

ISD 191 was one of just 11 Minnesotan schools to be recognized by the College Board.

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District has another feather to put in its cap: The College Board has listed the district on its annual AP Honor Roll — one of just 367 schools in the U.S. to get such a recognition. Only 11 schools on the list hailed from Minnesota.

The AP Honor roll is for secondary schools who improve students' access to AP courses — college level classes — while maintaining or improving on their passing rate. When compiling the list, the College Board looks at testing data from the previous three years. Since 2009, ISD 191 increased the number of students participating in AP exams from 289 to 386. At the same time, the students' scores remained high: 72 percent earned a score of three or higher — the threshold necessary for obtaining college credits.

"This takes sustained effort," said Christine Silvis, educational manager of K-12 services with The College Board. "Your performance level of higher than 70 percent has been maintained over the last three years. Most schools see 50 percent passing rate. It's pretty incredible."
