BHS Junior Takes Home 5 Film Awards

Burnsville High's Scott Svare was the "most awarded" student at the Upper Midwest Student Production Awards.

Burnsville High had a heck of a night on April 14. The school racked up six media awards for student produced videos, and five of those went to one person—Scott Svare.

Readers may remember the name from last year. In April of 2012, Svare debuted "Sight Without Eyes," a short documentary that takes viewers through a day in the life of Stephen Browman, a blind student at Burnsville High School. The poignant film went viral almost as soon as Svare posted the video online, drawing 1,000 hits in the first four hours alone. Ther clip has now been seen a total of 13,600 times.

The short doc was a hit at last year's state high school film festival, and now has garnered Svare  an award from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, which sponsors the Upper Midwest Student Production Awards. The awards ceremony took place on April 14 at the Mall of America.
