A Plea to Potters: Help ISD 191 Make 'Empty Bowls'

Volunteers are needed this Saturday to make clay bowls for this year's Empty Bowls for Full Bellies campaign, which helps feed children in the district who struggle with chronic hunger.

The school district is looking for a few good souls with a creative streak.

The Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District needs to make 600 clay bowls for Empty Bowls for Full Bellies, a program that helps feed hungry children in the district. To that end, they will be hosting a potting party this Saturday, Oct. 13, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Burnsville High School, in Room H108. Organizers plan to throw bowls in the morning and trim in the afternoon. They hope to have 100 bowls by the day's end.

Lunch and treats will be provided.

For the novice, this is an excellent opportunity to learn how to use the potter's wheel and check out the art studio. The bowls will be donated to Empty Bowls for Full Bellies, an annual fundraiser in April for BrainPower in a BackPack.
