Four school board members will have considerable competition in the upcoming election. In all, six residents have filed to run against the incumbents for a seat on the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage School District 191 Board of Education.

The period for filing for office closed on Tuesday. There is no primary election for school board candidates. All those who filed for office will face off during the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 6.

Board members DeeDee Currier, Ron Hill, Sandy Sweep and Bob VandenBoom are at the end of their terms, which expire on Dec. 31. All have opted to run for re-election, in spite of a contentious and difficult year.

Newly-elected board members will begin their terms in January 2013. For more information, call the district at 952-707-2051.
