THIS WEEK: Kindergarten Open House, Modern Dance and the Black Dog Bridge

Monday

• Planning Commission: Public hearing for permit to replace bridge on Black Dog Road. 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway.

• Parks and Natural Resources Commission: The commission will consider a permit for wetland replacement as a part of the Black Dog Bridge project. The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall. They will also discuss changes to the deer archery hunting policy in city parks.

• Harriet Bishop Gifted & Talented Elementary - information night for interested parents. The session begins at 6:30 p.m.

• Post-Secondary Financial Aid Night: Parents of Burnsville High students are invited to the Mraz Center at 7:00 p.m. where a speaker will talk about the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) and the process to apply for Federal grants and scholarships for College.

Tuesday

• City Council Worksession: This week, the council willl decide on a memorial for Charlie Crichton, a longstanding council member who died in March of 2011. They will also discuss local transportation projects — like the Highway 13 improvements and the county transportation plan. The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

• Rahn Elementary School of Arts & Technology: The school will host two events — an info session about its kindergarten program at 6:30 p.m. and another about its magnet program at 7:30 p.m.

• Business Young Professionals Kick-Off Event: The Burnsville Chamber of Commerce is putting out the call to young professionals. The Chamber is hosting a free networking event at the Mezz — the new bar and restaurant at the Paragon Movie Theater. The event runs from 5:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. 


Wednesday

• Economic Development Authority: 6:30 p.m.at City Hall.

• Travel Around the World at the Library: Travel to Australia without ever leaving the confines of the Burnhaven Library, which has adopted an international emphasis for its Winter Wednesday film series. The event is free and begins at 1:30 p.m.

• Edward Neill Elementary School will host its annual Kindergarten Open House on Wednesday, Jan. 11 at 6 p.m.
 
Thursday

• Creative and Modern Dance Performance,  6:00 p.m. at BHS' Mraz Center

• Information night at Metcalf Junior High: Metcalf is home to a science and technology magnet program, which immerses kids in an "interactive, project-based curriculum." Parents are invited to learn more at an information night at 7:00 p.m.

• Harriet Bishop Elementary School will host its annual Kindergarten Open House on Thursday, Jan. 12 at 6:30 p.m.
