McCall Throws Hat into Race for House District 56B

Longtime GOP activist Terry McCall is the third local politician to enter the race for the new House District 56B.

Less than a week has gone by since Lakeville , but the field is already getting crowded. Late Tuesday, Terry McCall declared his intention to run.

After the , Holberg found herself charged with District 56B, which encompasses much of Burnsville and only a small portion of northern Lakeville. But last week, Holberg announced her intention to run in District 58A, which covers the majority of Lakeville, her home turf.

Competition for the seat is already running high. McCall follows in the footsteps of and , who declared her intention to seek the Republican endorsement on Monday night.

McCall retired from a career at 3M. He owns a small financial management firm and is a founding board member of Pregnancy Choices Life Care Center in Apple Valley. He is well known in Minnesota's conservative circles. Most recently, McCall ran a campaign to replace Tony Sutton as chair of the Minnesota Republican Party. He currently serves as the chair of the Second Congressional District Republican Party.

McCall hopes that his connections in the party will pay off during the county convention on March 17, when local GOP will choose which candidate to endorse for the seat.

"I think (Peterson is) a very attractive candidate. I wouldn't hold her inexperience against her," McCall said."I think her challenge will be getting acceptance of Burnsville delegation."
