City Hires New CFO

Beginning Oct. 31, Heather Johnston will take one of the Burnsville's top positions.

Change is afoot at city hall. Late Thursday, the City of Burnsville announced it had found a new Chief Financial Officer and Director of Administrative Services: Heather Johnston, who is currently the director of management and budget with the City of Minneapolis.

Burnsville has been without a CFO since the departure of Tammy Omdal, who announced her resignation in early July. Omdal left the city for a private-sector job in August.

In her new position, Johnston will be charged with overseeing finance, communications, community services, information technology and the office of the city clerk.
