Carlson Picks Up Sierra Club Endorsement

Former Sen. Jim Carlson is campaigning against fellow DFLer Mike Maguire and incumbent Republican Ted Daley for the Burnsville/Eagan Senate seat.

Former Sen. Jim Carlson, who is once again running for Eagan's Senate seat, picked up an endorsement from the North Star Chapter of the Sierra Club, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.

Carlson's support for environmental groups, his advocacy for wetlands, natural resources and sensitive habitat protections and his critical take on sulfide mining in northern Minnesota were factors in the group's endorsement decision, the press release said.

"I am a Sierra Club member and I am very proud to accept the early endorsement by the Sierra Club in the contest for electing a Senator to represent Burnsville and Eagan," Carlson wrote in the press release. "My commitment to developing sound and tested approaches to environmental protection is a matter of record in my term in the Senate."
