Burnsville Hires New Director of Administrative Services

Dana Hardie will fill the vacancy created when Heather Johnston was promoted to city manager of Burnsville.

Burnsville has hired Dana Hardie as the new director of administrative services, the city recently announced. She will begin the position on July 30.

Burnsville received forty-nine applications for the position, which was vacated when Heather Johnston was promoted to city manager of Burnsville

Hardie has a wealth of experience. She is currently the operations manager of property records and revenue for Ramsey county, where she managed the treasurer's office and tax accounting division.

She has also served as member services/communication manager for the Minnesota Counties Intergovernmental Trust (2007 to 2011), assistant county administrator for Blue Earth County (2006 to 2007) and operations manager for Scott County (2002 to 2007).

Hardie has also:

  • Overseen the construction of the new law enforcement center and jail in Blue Earth County, and
  • Managed departments ranging from finance to communications.

“We are excited to have Dana join us at the City,” said Johnston in the city's news release. “Her experience in process improvement and technology advancement will serve us well as we continue to find new, cost-effective ways to provide high-quality services to Burnsville residents and businesses.”

In Burnsville, Hardie will "oversee the City’s finance, information technology and communications departments, along with the office of the City Clerk."

Hardie earned her Master’s in Public Administration and Non-Profit Administration from Metropolitan State University in St. Paul, Minn., and her Bachelor’s in Spanish and Latin American Studies from the University of Wisconsin, Eau Claire. She currently lives in Carver, Minn. with her husband and two children.
