Two Burnsville Men Severely Injured in Separate Snowmobile Crashes
This past weekend Brainerd was the scene of not one—but two—snow mobile crashes involving Burnsville residents.
Two Burnsville men were hospitalized after two, separate snowmobile crashes in Brainerd this weekend.
The first occurred on Saturday, when 66-year-old Richard Murphy was thrown from the snowmobile he was driving after hitting a road approach along Highway 18 in Brainerd. The impact knocked Murphy unconscious, the Brainerd Dispatch reports. Murphy was airlifted to St. Cloud Hospital. As of Tuesday, he was in serious condition.

Sources at the Crow Wing County Sheriff's Office say that Murphy was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
Just 24 hours later, Burnsville resident Joseph Novick, 47, and Minneapolis resident Richard Mills III, 27, were involved in a crash in an open field near the Brainerd Airport. According to the local Sheriff's Office, both men suffered severe injuries after their vehicles collided. They too were wearing helmets.

Novick was helicoptered to North Memorial in Robbinsdale. Mills was taken to Essentia Health in Brainerd. The incident remains under investigation.
