Summit Park Apartments Evacuated After Garage Fire

The Burnsville Fire Department was called to a brief blaze on Sunday night.

Summit Park Apartments became an emergency scene after a car fire broke out in the complex's underground garage on Sunday night, prompting an evacuation. Burnsville Fire Chief BJ Jungmann said that the blaze was already out by the time fire crews arrived at 12501 Portland Avenue South at 9:20 p.m. Heavy smoke lingered in the in the garage, however, and tenants had to stay out while the BFD ventilated the area. There were no reported injuries. The fire cause has not been determined yet, Jungmann said.
