St. Paul Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting Vulnerable Adult

Geoffrey Edward Florance allegedly assaulted a woman living in an adult foster home in Burnsville.

A St. Paul man employed at a Burnsville adult foster home is accused of sexually abusing an 18-year-old woman in his care.

According to a release from the Dakota County Attorney's Office, Geoffrey Edward Florance, 26, faces three charges: One count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct, third-degree assault, and criminal abuse of a vulnerable adult by a caregiver. The assault allegedly occurred during the early morning on Tuesday. At present, no further details are available, though the Dakota County attorney did issue a comment on the case.

"The abuse of a vulnerable adult at a licensed care facility...is extremely disturbing," said Dakota County Attorney James Backstrom.

Florance is currently in custody at the Dakota County Jail. His next court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
