Savage PD: Two Involved in Fatal Moped Crash

Two people were on the moped when it crashed into a fence on May 8.

A Burnsville man who died May 8 after the moped he was riding on struck a fence in Savage was not alone on the vehicle, police now say.

"I can confirm that (there) were two persons on the moped at the time of the crash," Savage Police Capt. Dave Muelken told Patch. He declined to release any details about the person's identity, however.

"Further details are not being released until the investigation has been concluded," he said. Savage police and the Minnesota State Patrol are reconstructing the crash as part of the investigation, which could take four to six weeks.

According to a release from the Savage Police Department, at 2:16 a.m. on Tuesday emergency crews were called to the 12400 block of Lynn Ave. S. on a report of a crash with unknown injuries. Raley was found unresponsive at the scene.

He was looking forward to fixing up a car his grandfather recently gave him.

Kathy Bunkers, one of Brett's teachers, commented on the funeral home website's obituary that Brett made a lasting impression on her life.

"Please know many in this community are grieving with you; Brett had many friends. Brett loved his family and would frequently tell me about his nephew and the silly things he did, his grandpa and the infamous cars, his travels to Arizona, hunting, and working on roofs for some extra money. In addition to his huge smile (although I didn't always get to see it so early in the morning :-), he always had a bottle of pop and Doritos in his hoodie jacket. Prayers for peace, comfort, and strength...I'm confident there are many cars to fix in heaven."
