According to the criminal complaint, police were called to an apartment on Burnsville Parkway just before 10:30 p.m. Oct. 10 when the victim reported that her ex-boyfriend, Sanchez, was forcing his way into her home.

The woman told them that she and Sanchez had a relationship for two years and had a child in common, but that they had split up in July because he had assaulted her. She said he had never lived in her apartment, but visited the child occasionally.

On Oct. 10, the victim told police, he sent her a text message, asking if he could visit the child. She looked outside and saw him standing on the front steps.

The victim said she opened the door and told him to leave, but Sanchez – who smelled like alcohol, according to the victim – ran up and put his foot in the door to keep her from closing it, then forced open the door and pushed her away toward the room where the child was sleeping.

The victim told police that Sanchez’s assault had aggravated a previous injury to her shoulder, which had been dislocated when Sanchez assaulted her earlier.
