Richfield Man Arrested in Burnsville Apartment Burglary

Police say Lalundray Wayne Jones broke into a Burnsville man's apartment and scuffled with him after the victim woke up.

A Richfield man has been charged with burglary after a Burnsville man told police that he found the suspect crouching by his bed.

Lalundray Wayne Jones, 29, faces a felony charge of first-degree burglary, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine. 

Jones remains in the Dakota County Jail on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for Dec. 19 in Dakota County District Court in Hastings.

According to the criminal complaint, Burnsville police were called to an apartment complex on Nov. 23 on a report of a burglary in progress.

The resident told police that he was asleep , and was awakened by a “loud thud” in his apartment. He said he woke up, smelled cigarette smoke, got out of bed and found Jones crouching at the end of his bed.

A struggle between Jones and the victim ensued. When police arrived and arrested Jones, they found “several items” belonging to the victim in his pockets.
