Police: Burnsville Man Should Have Shopped Elsewhere

Juan Manuel Alvarez is accused of stealing someone's keys at the Dakota County Courthouse last week and trying to find a car to fit them.

Police say a Burnsville man chose the wrong place to do his used-car shopping last week.

According to documents filed in Dakota County District Court, Juan Manuel Alvarez, 27, was arrested Wednesday in the parking lot of the Dakota County Courthouse in Apple Valley.

Several courthouse employees reported seeing a man roaming through the courthouse’s north parking lot, trying to open car doors – including one vehicle belonging to a district judge, who was inside adjudicating at the time.
