Police Arrest Man After Burnsville Standoff Near Highway 13

The suspect held two hostages during the Saturday evening incident at a Holiday Gas Station in Burnsville.

Burnsville police responded to the Holiday Gas Station at Nicollet Avenue and Highway 13 Saturday evening after an armed man took two employees hostage.

The incident occurred at 6:15 p.m. when the man entered the gas station and fired a sawed-off shotgun at the ceiling, according to WCCO

Police were able to contact the 31-year-old suspect by phone. He made no demands, and police were able to convince him to surrender. He was arrested by 6:48 p.m., the St. Paul Pioneer Press reported.

The Bloomington bomb squad inspected a suspicious package in the parking lot, but it was not considered a threat and it may be unrelated to the hostage situation.

No one was injured in the incident, which also temporarily closed a portion of Highway 13. Police Clips has audio of the incident on SoundCloud.

The suspect has not yet been charged. Patch does not generally name suspects until after they have been charged.
