Police say Holie was in the back yard of his Burnsville home with two friends last Sept. 25 when he picked up a pistol, held it to his throat and threatened to kill himself.

Holie’s three children, ages 2, 5 and 7, witnessed part of the ensuing struggle, and the 5-year-old was knocked over and bumped his head, according to the complaint. The 7-year-old told police that she saw her father holding the gun to his neck.

Holie admitted to police that he had been hospitalized earlier in September for a “suicide plan” and that he became angry when his two friends told him he hadn’t been serious about planning to kill himself, according to the complaint.  He also told officers that he had been drinking on the day of the incident.
