Man Charged with Biting Victim in Domestic Assault Case

Kevin Michael Grabow faces two felony charges in the Tuesday incident.

A Brooklyn Park man has been charged with domestic assault in Burnsville after police say he bit his victim on the arm as she tried to carry her son to her car.

Kevin Michael Grabow, 37, faces two felony charges: domestic assault and violating a domestic abuse no-contact order, each of which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Grabow remains in the Dakota County Jail in Hastings on a $20,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for July 11.

According to the complaint, Burnsville police were called to the area of Hamilton Street on Tuesday evening on a report of a couple fighting.

When police arrived, they saw Grabow trying to get into the front passenger seat of a car as a woman tried to drive away. Police stopped the car and found the woman “hysterical and crying,” according to the complaint.

The woman told police that when Grabow came to pick her up from work about 5 p.m., he appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. She drove to the Savage police station and told him to get out of the car, then drove home.

Shortly afterward, the woman told police, Grabow came to her apartment and they argued over who would carry her child to the car. The complaint says Grabow tried to grab the child’s carrier from the victim, and when she wouldn’t let go, he bit her arm.

The argument continued, with Grabow attempting to stop the woman from getting into her car, the complaint says.

The victim told police that she slapped and scratched Grabow as he tried to keep her from getting into her car.

A witness told police that she saw the victim throwing clothes out of the apartment and that she saw the altercation between the victim and Grabow.

Grabow told police that he and the victim had been arguing and that she had thrown his clothes outside, but denied hitting her, according to the complaint. “As she was driving away, Grabow said [the victim] had told him she loved him, at which point he attempted to jump into the vehicle as she tried to drive away,” the complaint says.

Grabow admitted that he knew about a no-contact order issued in March in Hennepin County, which specifies that he is not allowed to have any contact with the victim.

Grabow was convicted in 2008 and 2010 of domestic assault and of violating a no-contact order earlier this year.
