Local Barber Was Only a Bit Player in Meth Ring, Says Lawyer

Johnson is accused of leading a drug ring after officers say they found $400,000 worth of meth in his home.

Undoubtedly mustering the kind of courage only criminal defense lawyers are capable of, attorneys for a Burnsville barber on trial for having 12 pounds of methamphetamine in his home claimed he was a only a minor player in an employee's drug ring on Friday.

According to the Pioneer Press, Albert Morris Johnson's attorney Earl Gray said the drugs aren't Johnson's but instead belong to a man investigated by the DEA a few years ago.

Gray also alleged that Johnson had been denied due process while federal and state officials prepared their case.

A task force of Dakota County and federal law enforcement officers raided Johnson's home and barbershop in May. According to charges filed following the raid, the 12 pounds of meth officers say they found was worth over $400,000.
