Death of 4-year-old Burnsville Boy Ruled a Homicide

Burnsville Police did arrest a man in connection with the boy's death back in June. Formal charges have not yet been filed.

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s office has ruled the sudden death of a four-year-old Burnsville child a homicide.

Keyontay Miller-Peterson died due to complications of blunt force injuries of the abdomen

The child died June 11, 2013, at a location in the 30th block of Horizon Heights. Paramedics were called to the scene around 5 p.m. on report of a child experiencing medical problems. When they arrived on the scene, they found the child already dead.

Police arrested a suspect, a 24-year-old male in June. The man has not been charged with the child's death, as the investigation is still ongoing. He does face other criminal charges connected with the incident, including violation of an order for protection, felony damage to property, fleeing a peace officer, providing false information to police and driving after revocation.

The suspect remains was most recently listed as in custody at the Dakota County Jail, held on a $50,000 bond.
