A roundup of updates on criminal cases from April and May.

• Donald Neil Allen, 40, pleaded guilty on May 2 to third-degree assault and endangerment of a child after he was arrested for beating his girlfriend in front of her small children. His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 9.

• Kanesha Renae Anderson, 21, pleaded guilty to prostitution on May 20. She was  sentenced to two years of probation. The judge waived fines associated with the conviction, though she will have to complete a rehabilitative program.

• On May 9, Erick Garza Armenta, 36, pleaded not guilty to felony criminal sexual conduct in the first- and second-degree. He is accused of molesting his stepdaughters. Today, June 15, his lawyer will meet with the prosecution during an omnibus hearing. If the two parties cannot reach a settlement, Armenta is scheduled to stand trial on July 12.

• On May 25, Russell Eugene Avent, 27, pleaded guilty and was convicted of third-degree assault for an attack on his girlfriend, who was found bruised and bleeding. The victim told police that Avent tied her up with a vacuum cord, strangled her and beat her repeatedly. As per the plea agreement, the court dismissed the remaining charges —false imprisonment, terroristic threats, domestic assault by strangulation and interfering with a 911 call. 

On May 26, he was sentenced to 56 months in the prison at St. Cloud—a term of just under five years. He will also be required to register as a predatory offender upon release.

• On May 2, Willie Alfonso Brown, 33, pleaded not guilty to assault, burglary and a parole violation. Brown was arrested after a chase that ended with his car crashing into a residence and daycare on Burncrest Court.

If Brown is found guilty, he faces up to 40 years in prison and a $75,000 fine.

• On May 23, Arthur Kelly Estrada pleaded not guilty to allegations of child molestation. Estrada is accused of repeatedly sexually two teen girls he lived with. Though authorities did not release the exact nature of the relationship between the parties involved, they did describe Estrada as being in "a position of authority" over the girls.

His defense attorney will meet with the prosecution on June 29. If no settlement is reached, Estrada will stand trial on July 19.

• On May 3, Peter Robert Stibal II, 46, was convicted of four counts of felony criminal sexual conduct in the first- and second-degree. The former Scout Master was found guilty of molesting one of his charges over a period of two years. the boy was 13 when the abuse began.

According to a release from the county attorney's office, Stibal also faces three counts of Criminal Sexual Conduct in the Second Degree involving three other boy scouts and six counts of possession of child pornography.

He will be sentenced for the first set of charges on June 24.
