Burnsville's Capt. Werner Could Become Top Cop in Rosemount

Capt. Eric Werner with the Burnsville PD is a finalist for the police chief post in Rosemount, which has been vacant since May.

Burnsville's own Capt. Eric Werner is in the running for police chief of Rosemount, a post which has been empty since Gary Kalstabakken resigned in May.

According to a recent report from the Pioneer Press, Werner is one of three finalists, a trio that also includes Rosemount police Lt. Jewel Ericson and Apple Valley police Capt. Michael Marben. The finalists were selected last week after a rigorous round of interviews by two panels, which were composed of community members, city staff, and Eagan Police Chief Jim McDonald.

The City of Rosemount will host an open house next week to give Rosemount residents a chance to meet the three finalists. The open house is from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 1 at the City Council chambers on the second floor of Rosemount City Hall, 2875 145th St. W.
