Burnsville Man Gets 90 Days for Illicit Recording of Newlyweds

A hotel clerk will serve 90 days in jail for an unwanted intrusion into one couple's honeymoon festivities.

On Monday, Jeremiah Caleb Marg, 29, of Burnsville, was convicted of recording the sounds of a newly-married couple having sex. At the time, Marg was the night clerk at Hotel 340 hotel in downtown St. Paul. According to a report in the St. Paul Pioneer Press, Marg slid an audio recording device under the couple's hotel room door on Dec. 28. The pair found the device and reported the incident to police.

Marg was charged with two gross-misdemeanor counts of intentional interference with privacy. As per a plea agreement with the state, on Monday one charge against against Marg was dismissed and the other was reduced to a misdemeanor.

Ramsey County District Judge Joanne Smith sentenced Marg to 90 days in the county workhouse, beginning on Jan. 14.

Other than a handful of traffic violations, Marg has no prior criminal record.
